Andrew Lackey is an award-winning sound designer, composer, and audio director with over 100 credits in games, film, and music. Known for his "story-first" creative approach, his work is featured in numerous high-profile projects.
Danetracks and Early Career (1997-2004): Lackey began his career with an internship at Danetracks in West Los Angeles with Dane Davis. He later joined the team full-time, becoming a key foley supervisor and sound effects designer on films such as Treasure Planet, The Matrix Trilogy, 8 Mile, and The Animatrix.
Electronic Arts and Skywalker Sound (2004-2008): After briefly working at Skywalker Sound in San Francisco, Lackey joined Electronic Arts as a senior video game sound designer. Here, he contributed to award-winning games including Dead Space, Spore, and Lord of the Rings.
Wabi Sabi Sound (2008-2024): In 2008, Lackey founded Wabi Sabi Sound in Berkeley, California. The studio provides world-class audio services to AAA studios and independent developers alike, specializing in game audio direction, coding, dialogue supervision, music composition, and sound design. In 2015, Wabi Sabi Sound received the G.A.N.G. Audio of the Year award for Ori and the Blind Forest.
Other Ventures: Andrew Lackey is also a creative lead and artist. Escalier Forte, featured in a public space in Atlanta with creative partner Mark Wentzel. Music releases include classical, rock, roots, and ambient music styles.
